Fashion rut. Dress like a mum

Image
I don’t need new clothes. I just need to update couple of things... coz you know I wore them through.  But how I dressed changed a lot since I had Egg. My go to bag not my lovely doctors bag made out of gorgeous brown leather but a big backpack full of snacks and toys...  well when some changes are just fine and necessary, like the bag or not putting makeup on everyday... the makeup thing is a bit libiratjng actually. But then some changes just led me living in jeans and tees all the time. Or is it sloppiness? Comfort? No sleep?  Once again there is nothing wrong with it but I love dresses... and shoes...  From this month onwards I will try to make an effort to dress more adventurous then just jeans. It won’t be always possible since my work unifor is also jeans but it would be nice to get stuff out to the waderobe and feel like I used to be.  (I need me a full lenght mirror, this is a cute dress from Gap and pixi boots with white socks and bare legs with favour...

Fighting with my milkaholic

Image
My almost 3 year old has a terrible milk habit. When i hear other parents saying how they had a bad night their kid woke up once I want to cry and tell them they don't know how lucky they are! Truly!  For last three years I can count on one hand how many times Egg slept throw the night. It was 3 times. Three glorous nights...  So every time he would grouch in the night we would give him a bottle with milk. Yes we are bad. And he still has bottles. Yes yes I know. So after having a nice chat with Health Visitor last week, she said he needs a uninterrupted sleep, and so do we. It is linked to their development and you know... it's a sleep!!  Basically we had to suck it up and not give him milk. And guess what two difficult nights and now he pretty much sleeps throw until he wakes up.  (Here is my tiny terror with his new love Welsh cake) Win!  But last few days he was up at 4am and 4.30am and refused to go back to sleep... and he gets naked... with all the wet con...

Toy overload. Parenting hack.

Image
We are the only one with a child so we get a lot of toys given. And it is wonderful, however... Toys took over our living space Egg didn't show any interest in any Mess was everywhere Noisy toys are the worst! All the storage is for toys  Egg empties everything  This has to stop! But how to you tell people that enough of toys please and do not sound like an ungrateful SOB? Well for Christmas we set the limit that if you are getting Egg a toy get just one. Yeah that worked.... I suppose grand parents are here to spoil! But we also got a lot of book, and this is actually super awesome! Thank you great grand mama aka Snowy.  So after spending yet another evening mainly putting the toys away I have decided to sort and hide. So I put away all the little toys and ones he hasn't really play with since being a little baba.  Then I put all the wooden blocks, wooden cars, wooden train track together and took it to the spare room. Same happened to noisy t...

Learning to sit down...

Image
I guess we all know what Pinterest is. That magical place that shows you what you can do, what you can have... they actually have some great activities boards for little ones.  Then we have instamums ... these pretty women with their immaculately dressed kids posing for photos... Or these kids that actually sit down to do stuff and they don't run around...  Well part of me know it is all a lie. And they, instamums, say them self do not trust the pictures. My old school friend posted the awesome crafting photo with her two year old boy. I was in aww, he just sat there and painted the cut up egg carton.... my Egg would have spill stuff everywhere and wouldn't paint so delicately for a two year old. So my friend replies do not believe the picture before this was taken her little boy had to be cleaned off the paint and was running around like a mad loony... so there we have it do not believe the picture.  And as we all know behind a good instargam there is someone who...

I love sleep!

Image
Yesterday was good. Child had a fab morning with dada, I managed to do some studying. Then tot had a nap and picked on his dinner which was abit is downer  (guess he is still not 100% and still has that virus) but bed time was great. Fun in the bath, didn't fight with pijamas, I read him a story while he was sorting out his bedding... great day. I went to bed early in case he would get up again at 5am like he has been doing for past 5 days or so...  .....    I think this photo sums it up. He got up at 2.30am and that was that. I have tired everything ... more milk, teething gel, cuddles, take him to our bed...even woke husband up to help.... at 4.45am in the end he went to look into the gloomy night from his bedroom window so I hid in our bedroom while listening to him cooing and complaining until 5.30am I am in a very shitty mood. I love sleep. I need to sleep to function well. I blamed the kid for being mean to me and I had for a brief moment questioned our decisio...

2017 bring it!

Image
Oh the new year new me... well I have failed at few things I set off to do in the beginning of 2016.   So to revisit, I didn't get a job, I didn't get fitter... but I have started a course to retrain and move away from hospitality industry. This is a very big step into the right direction. Now just stay motivated and get in with it.  And Edgar went to nursery. Even if it is twice a week for half a day, he still goes and has grown and became a more socialble boy. He doesn't get as upset with me if say I hold a baby or isn't as shy when we meet other kids.    (Here is little man playing with vintage fisher price garage that his dad and uncle used to play) As for serenity and improved quality of our life... well we are still working on it. But we do more. We will go out and do stuff together. I rediscovered my love for things handmade. So I guess I am moving into a right direction on this point. Yay! So all and all 2016 wasn't too much of the failure in new me bs aspec...

Bad moms

Image
"Let's be bad moms" says Mila Kunis in this gem of the film in answer to the pressure of being this picture perfect mother, that bakes, cleans, helps with homework, works and also lost all her baby weight and always looks amazing... (and all this in one sentence!!) I would like to applaud, actually make like a one woman standing ovation, to all the people who made this film. This film feels real, about every day mumming struggles. I have to confess that good few times I wanted to clap or shout "You go girl!" during the film. Basically it is about mothers, PTA, schools, children and mama gang. With mainly female cast too. There are only few men in this film, and they do not have a center stage. One particular actor is there just to look very very good. And boy he is does this so well....  This film made me laugh so hard that I have cried and almost peed my self.  There is however some criticism about how Mila Kunis' heroine...

Me vs Chicken pox

Image
So I thought Egg had chicken pox about 6 months ago. It turned out to be just a teething rush.  I had chicken pox when I was 21 and it was horrible. And from what I can gather it is much better to have it when you are little... And so Edgar got this disease for his birthday. Damn! He can't tell what's up and how he feels coz he doesn't talk yet... Oh well.  I am very sleep deprived at the moment. He is walking up a lot itchy all over and super grouchy. I can't take him out since he is still contagious, there goes our nursery settling, he is going mad in the house.  And the spots are everywhere, poor guy.  He is still mainly happy little boy but restless... And annoyed and very irritable... So is his mama. At this very moment I'm listening to him fighting the nap time while being in need of one too. Go to nap!!! Go to nap now!  Basically being sick sucks! But watching your child being sick and there isn't much yo...

So Egg man is two...

Yay we kept him alive for two whole years... I said this to hubby. But what I didn't say is that I remembered the birth. Also known as the very 1st time I have been in hospital, I was so scared, tired, in pain and the staff messed it up.  I'm sure that there are worst sorties out there ... But what we must know and remember there are some truly amazing ones! For example my uni frowns gave birth in 4hours to a very hansome little boy.  Why can't we tell heart birth stories? Why can't local media say one day that in so and so hospital lots of babie been born today and all happy and healthy went home... Looking into his little face as he begins to be more grown up...  And I don't care how he came to this world I am just super happy to have him

Time... Stop! I am not ready!

Image
Last week was the week of firsts...  So Edgar climbed out of the his cot at his grand parents.... He just looked so pleased with himself. But I wasn't so. This means the nap time over there will be a nightmare.  Some one also got his first scraped knee.  We were out in the park with the dog and Egg jumped off the bench and landed on some gravel. But he was very brave. Had a little cry and then was just fasinated by that new thing on his knee! And finally my little boy is a little climber. If you are following me on Instagram you would have seen a post from few days ago...  He can't quiet reach with his feet so he uses his knees. That kid is so smart!  ... But not when he is having a tantrum and headbutts the floor or the wall....  But thinking about him growing up so quickly I can't help but cry. God I am such a mum!

Sleep training...

Image
We love our boy just too much... And we don't want him to cry at night so we always picked him up and cuddle him. So he won't go to sleep by himself ever. We had a brief moment in time when he did fell asleep by himself but he was just a small baby then.  And he also migrated into our bed. I guess with the moving we did in his first year of life it might be very complicated to  get used to one bedroom.  It is nice to have your baby next to you sleeping and hugging but not all the time and not when this baby takes all the space and also like to kick and pull your hair... Enough was enough and besides he is a big boy (relatively) right now so we have decieded to finally move him into his own room and to try to sleep train....  We have been doing if for about a week now... Edgar will have a bath, we get ready for bed and read him a story. They he would go into his cot with a bottle and  we will leave the room... And few minutes later he will be sound asleep. It is ...

Traveling with toddler

Image
Travelling from one country to another... With two flights and a train journey is hard. Now try to do it with a toddler that won't stay still for a moment...  We are back now from Russia to sunny and windy Wales. The travel actually wasn't too bad, all things considered. He slept on the 1st flight for about half an hour and was really pleased about the lady behind us and in front of us. That kid is such a charmer when he wants to be.  We barely survived the layover. Oh by the way the worst service in TGI Fridays in Sheremetevo airport. It wasn't busy they weren't rushed off their feet or anything. To order it took like 15 mins, then for my drink, Pepsi light, it was another 15 mins... Oh and I never seen my change. We waited for a bit but big man started to kick off big time... Well I guess I wouldn't have tipped otherwise. I never felt this way before about the service anywhere... And I worked in that industry!   But the cabin crew on the flight to Lon...

Time flies

Image
I simply cannot believe we are in Christmas mode already. The year just few by... And when I look at the little man sometimes I just do not understand where my tiny baby gone and who replaced him with this toddler?!  Look just how grown up he looks at this photo  I never felt like "oh I'm so sad my baby grows up so quickly" I am excited that he learns new things becoming a small individual with his own personal tastes. And then I blink and he looks so grow up!    I actually don't remember what it was like when he was just a little baby. I might have just blocked this out, who knows... Or maybe it is just a lack of sleep!  Have you seen these parenting motivation pic? Like if you are not crazy you are not doing it right? I am totally bananas now. So crazy that after no training what so ever (I maybe been out for a run 3 times since Cardiff 10K) I'm doing the Movember 10k this Sunday and then on Monday little man and I are travelling to snowy an...

Boxes!!

Image
You might already know that I love the monthly subscription boxes. However I have cancelled my much loved Little Box . It was sad but had to be done, my drawers are full of stuff I don't have time to use. Or even energy. Being a Mombie (it's a real thing!) last thing I want to deal with make up and such. But husband pointed out these little things make me happy so I though I give something else a go... And here we are  Sassy Bloom box.  Fun idea, box of goodies for your little one depending on how old they are getting and such. It's nice. They also offer great introductory discounts, check out their Twitter and Facebook pages. But I think I found it is a bit strange like some one else picking up stuff for your preciouse little one and it is a bit too much money for my liking.  Don't get me wrong they send great stuff, but I needed up with more stacking cups... But grown up cup will be super useful and I always use the bowls from Munchkin. The cutlery ...

Hard Work

Image
Before I have said that mumming is super awesome but super hard work. Keeping the little man entertained ... But there are some things are here to help. Check these out!  These bath light were given to me last Christmas and I totally forgot about them. Until few days ago. Egg loves looking at them playing with them. He gets these out puts them on the edge of the bath and watches them change colour. And this way he actually sits in the bath! Our health visitor said that it's a great sensory play!

Mum v Identity

Image
Some of you might know that I still do not know what I want to be when I grow up... So I sort of always had an identity crisis. When I fell pregnant I thought "Oh nothing will change!"... yeah right! That so well I don't want to say naive.... but yeah totally is. I struggled a lot with becoming a mother. Do not get me wrong motherhood is the most awesome thing ever! But going through the change, having some one coming out of you is ... well extraordinary and so very challenging. I had a slight baby blues but luckily I was over that fairly quickly. But then I had hard time calling my self a mummy, or refer to Egg Man is my son. So I prefer mama, and that seem to make a difference. Feels more fun! Mummy is too traditional, too sweet, then mama is different and fun. Yes, I thought about this for a while. It is hard not to be just mama.. Especially if you are staying at home with mini me. All you become is mama. It is great if you can shift the baby weight and are ...

A good day mumming

Image
Yesterday was a good day! Firstly we managed to nap for decent amount of time (read more than 40min). Then I discovered that Amber  necklace   for little one has arrived. We are giving it a try, it won't make things worst. It's super cute and from Baltic source, I got it from Etsy .  (and Edgar had some jelly... it also was amazing!) Out pool adventures have improved. I guess it has something to do won't is being on holidays for such a long time and haven't attended the swimming classes that Egg Man decided he doe t like it much... But slowly we are improving!  And then in the park we met Emily and her Russian mum Kate! It's so cool to meet some one just out of the blue and I think we will get along well!  As I mentioned previously mothers need other mothers... Not only to keep us  being alto to communicate to other adults but to keep us sane...  Oh and I won some tea from Pukka teas!

Motherhood. Quick updates.

Image
Today Egg decided to mushed banana into his face.... while the banana was still in the bowl. It was just too cute! He is learning new things, like cuddling, eating new things, chewing things properly and chasing after mama. That is super hard! He runs, as fast as he can, and yells at the closed door or at the blocked stairs. But he also forgets how to do things, if before he was waving like a mad person now he barely does this. I suppose we need to practice more... It was also a week of new things. We finally met lovely Lucia, Egg was so pleased to see another little one. When we were walking around in the restaurant we looked into the pram with a little 9 week old baby. Eggy's face was a picture, he was so pleased to looked at some one who is so small. Although he still did not master "gentle touch" he really wanted to touch Lucia but he just wanted to do the usual bashing. So that didn't happen, but she did touch him. So freaking adorable. Also ...

What I did today

Image
We are preparing for our holidays in Mother Russia. This means that Edgar needs to get a visa ... So is his Dada and Grammy. And it's a hassle! And I actually had to go to London...  But at least I got to see this cute chap!    And for the 1st time Edgar stayed with Grammy for such a long time. Everyone was  happy. I was actually worried that he would grouch too much but they had a great day together. I on the other hand had a slightly stressful day. I was worried about application form, that I've forgotten stuff and that Egg is driving Grammy up the wall crying and kicking off...  Well everything was rather good. So now we are busy preparing for Babushka's arrival and our trip over there.

It's been a while

Image
I would like to apologise for not finding time... Well and then the blogger wouldn't work for me. Maybe it's me... Very hurt, blogger!  But I also have been busy. Last week Egg man wasn't very well, picked up a cold in the play group. So all the entertainment was at home.  We rediscovered Sailormoon, well I have. At times it was rather challenging to keep a snotty baby happy. But we managers, even men our Grammy for lunch on Sunday. Egg man does enjoy the trips out and wagamama do great food for him to try out ... Noodles, shiitake mushroom, chicken katsu.  Mumming is very busy! I was making food for Boy too...  Edgar is tying so much food and flavours ... And he is also active lately... Crawling walking... Terrorising pets:)  Bunny is being a good sport! And every runs up to him:)  The fish however are in trouble... With Edgar tap tap taping on the side of the tank...  We actually have to get gates, but...
