We are at the half term

Image
So we made it to school's half term! In UK kids go to preschool and then school from about age of 3.  Egg just turned 4 and having him all day at school was terrifying. He is too little, too not talking and finds it hard around other children... or so I thought! It has been just few weeks in big school and he already has a best friend Amelia. We didn't know her before. When she was ill he missed her and when she did return after two days he run up to give her a hug and knocked and him self down.  He also has other friends and interacts brilliantly with them. Other kind find his speech therapy interesting and help him with these.   All ready for elements in daddy’s hat  He loves the after-school club he goes to, I mean I would as well, it's just bunch of kids all ages from school playing together and Egg been always curious about big kids. The gentleman in change of the club says its very interesting to see how big kids take care of the little ones ...

Why I blog... well!

Image
Why do I blog?  Well it’s seems like no one is actually reading my blabber but you know it’s ok.  I find blogging helps me form my thoughts. Help me out stuff in perspective I guess. And it’s my me time.  Easy achievable and accessible and well sometimes it’s fun.  I would love to have like this beautiful popular blog but it’s time and techniques I don’t possess. I am however thinking about changing it ... but I am not sure yet. And besides I am lazy! But I still wants to write stuff!  Like when I share about my son it’s makes me less alone and hope some one who is in the similar situation can read it and feel better too.  When I review products I just want to share my opinions. Same as before I buy something new I would like to know of product via it actual users of the product.  I don’t really think I can make money doing this but hey who knows (I am not that lucky!)  And personally I like that I don’t just talk about one particular topi...

Last week

Image
All last week we were off school. New class new year well new germs and new bugs.  I won’t go into detail about what it was about, it was ok and didn’t affect my tiny human much.  But he really likes school and routine...   And on Sunday he had an epic meltdown. Like refusing to go where I told him, running away from me screaming and throwing himself on the ground.  Moments like this I want to die, it’s hard it’s is so hard. But these are usually moments. This lasted a bit longer then usual... and he twice almost run into the open road, there wasn’t much traffic but my heart did skip a bit as I was gragging him back to the pavement...  My heart broke my kid wasn’t cooperating.  I lost my temper when we eventually got home. I yelled and cried at him. He of course wasn’t sure. My hands shook. I felt like a failure. Even now writing this bring tears to my eyes.  But then I remember... the makaton tutor was staying how everything with kids with speech dela...

Not talking Wonder 2

Image
If you are reading me or know me then you might know that Eggy boy isn’t talking yet. Here is a privious post about it. And these are thing we feel and know about this...  But now the ball is finally rolling and we finally got appointments and tests... and positive and yet not so positive people around.  I just want to share this in case some one else is going through that and you tell you that you are not alone! In December we finally saw the paediatrician who listened gave positive feed back and got us to do blood tests... and kindly chased up the speech therapy appointment. Even if the therapist said that we are “top of the waiting list” the coincidence is well ... there is no such thing...  The blood tests were really horrid to do. I do not believe we have a medical issue, but it would be eliminated or not. But at least there will be a definite answer. Do you remember last time you had your blood taken from the vein? Did it hurt? Were you annoyed and...

So tired!

Image
School run is the only reason that I know what day it is. But still I am not quiet sure. Lately Edgar hasn’t been sleeping long. I got excited yesterday when he god up at 5.50am... yes! It is his bad.  But then child pretty much hated good night sleep all his life. And it is the favoured blog topic, a moaning posts... ( here , here , here ... and pretty much many more...  ) This Tuesday after a very emotional Monday I felt ever so tired. Tuesdays are my days, Egg is in preschool and then nursery collect him, so I just need to drop him off and collect him in he evening.  This Tuesday I was planning to go shopping for myself. But I just felt so deflated and a bit overtired.... but I did a bit more complicated hair, wore red (a happy colour)...  And in the afternoon I had a singing and dancing session for about 10 minutes and somehow my day got better.  I suppose as long as you have something active to do and occupy the brain you don’t think th...

Sleep...

Image
August and September were great! Egg slept well at night, not through but he would wake up at 6.45am or somewhere between that and 7.30am and once he even woke up at 8.45am.  But then suddenly he became a hater or restful nights and lover of his super tired mama... we were up at 5am or 5.30 no later than that. Evil child!  It was horrible horrible times!  So I took to internet...  There were two opinions among English writing parents, either go to bed earlier or go to bed later...  The lady in our local shop who has 3 sons said that you just need to ignore them, they would put themselves back to sleep.  Being a true believer in the child that goes to bed late wake up early, I have decided to ignore the cooing toddler by the gate of his room. That didn’t last. He is very persistent. So I thought well let’s try to go to bed about 7.30pm instead of 7pm. And it worked! Doesn’t work all the time but it works. I don’t feel as exhausted all the time as I used to....

How much I love preschool

Image
I loved how every weekday we got up and went to school. How well Edgar walks, how fast, how enthusiastic he is... and how I would leave him there for couple of hours and be just by my self. And then I get best cuddles!  All is well... but on Saturday morning he spiked a fever and was really cuddly and sad. Not my usual happy bouncy boy.  Calpol, milk and cuddles ...  And then it lasted for 3 days! Took him to doctors, all is good just infection. So more calpol.  And no school...  Every time I think right tomorrow he would go to school, he starts coughing so bad that I realise he would scare everyone there. So he was off school all week long.  And what a long week it was.  On Monday we were meant to travel and stay over night in Bristol so see Bush. Last time we saw Bush it was 5 years ago...  I couldn’t dump him on my mother in law same as I couldn’t tell husband not to go. I am not that kind of person. He had a great time, and he touched Gav. So ...

Bank holiday. Hot day.

Image
This last bank holiday treated us with some glorious sun and clear sky. And sleeping if you are a toddler is super hard. It's just warm. Also I really didn't want to do anything so naturally I packed up the swimming stuff we had in the house, bikini for me and trunks for the child (our regular more suitable for pool adventure stuff was at my in laws) along with water wings we heard out for about 40 mins hike to the pool.  So I naively thought we will be there right after opening time so it should be crowed and surly people would rather go the beach or something. Well we were greeted by this...     I wanted to run back home and hide. But I thought I shall not be defeated by this and to be fair the queue moved really quickly. Must be some technical difficulty, or something along these lines.  And pool was fun. Although kid tired to climb all over jacuzzi bit and were whistled at, and he is really strong willed yet totally lost without me. I put him on top the sild...

(Not) talking Wonder

Image
Edgar is almost 3!  I cannot believe this, it like it was just yesterday I was waddling around with a massive bump thinking of what to name my little egg... And he doesn't talk.... When Egg was about 18 months old he used to sing Twinkle Twinkle and so a little star with his hands. He used to call us mama and dada and call all small animals bunny. Well my mother's cats were bunnies.  And now he doesn't say much. Only bird language. Lots of different noises. Sometimes he would say a word or even two and then won't say them again...  I am pretty convinced that he is just stubborn. We know voice and words are there. He just can manipulate us to get his own way....  But then we also have all these medical professionals around us. We saw speech and language therapist (SLT), paediatrician and regular visits to our health visitor (HV)... I really didn't find SLT helpful she produced a terrible report based on her observations. Well if she was observing my child for 2 hours...

Parenting Anxiety

Image
Did you know that there is everyone thinks they are experts? Well yeah we all seen these so called friends offering an advice on any subject...  But did you know how much pressure there is from the society on parents? And the judgment. So freaking much! I am also guilty of that, I am working on that though.  However this isn't a post about this. This is a post about me freaking out about my spirited toddler who woke up today before 5am.    Edgar is now 2 and 8 months old. He is a happy, active boy, with a very strong personality...  We are the only people around with a kid. I speak Russian to him, when I don't forget...  So Egg interacts better with adults and really not fussed on other kids. And he doesn't talk. He finds his way to get stuff he wants directing us and we can understand him. It would be a nightmare if we didn't.  Oh and I don't work and hubby works all the time to support us. Basically with him being a chef and it is very difficult to f...

Toy overload. Parenting hack.

Image
We are the only one with a child so we get a lot of toys given. And it is wonderful, however... Toys took over our living space Egg didn't show any interest in any Mess was everywhere Noisy toys are the worst! All the storage is for toys  Egg empties everything  This has to stop! But how to you tell people that enough of toys please and do not sound like an ungrateful SOB? Well for Christmas we set the limit that if you are getting Egg a toy get just one. Yeah that worked.... I suppose grand parents are here to spoil! But we also got a lot of book, and this is actually super awesome! Thank you great grand mama aka Snowy.  So after spending yet another evening mainly putting the toys away I have decided to sort and hide. So I put away all the little toys and ones he hasn't really play with since being a little baba.  Then I put all the wooden blocks, wooden cars, wooden train track together and took it to the spare room. Same happened to noisy t...

Learning to sit down...

Image
I guess we all know what Pinterest is. That magical place that shows you what you can do, what you can have... they actually have some great activities boards for little ones.  Then we have instamums ... these pretty women with their immaculately dressed kids posing for photos... Or these kids that actually sit down to do stuff and they don't run around...  Well part of me know it is all a lie. And they, instamums, say them self do not trust the pictures. My old school friend posted the awesome crafting photo with her two year old boy. I was in aww, he just sat there and painted the cut up egg carton.... my Egg would have spill stuff everywhere and wouldn't paint so delicately for a two year old. So my friend replies do not believe the picture before this was taken her little boy had to be cleaned off the paint and was running around like a mad loony... so there we have it do not believe the picture.  And as we all know behind a good instargam there is someone who...

Me vs Chicken pox

Image
So I thought Egg had chicken pox about 6 months ago. It turned out to be just a teething rush.  I had chicken pox when I was 21 and it was horrible. And from what I can gather it is much better to have it when you are little... And so Edgar got this disease for his birthday. Damn! He can't tell what's up and how he feels coz he doesn't talk yet... Oh well.  I am very sleep deprived at the moment. He is walking up a lot itchy all over and super grouchy. I can't take him out since he is still contagious, there goes our nursery settling, he is going mad in the house.  And the spots are everywhere, poor guy.  He is still mainly happy little boy but restless... And annoyed and very irritable... So is his mama. At this very moment I'm listening to him fighting the nap time while being in need of one too. Go to nap!!! Go to nap now!  Basically being sick sucks! But watching your child being sick and there isn't much yo...
