Feel Good Box. Review

Image
Oh we haven’t had a box review in a while. Well I couldn’t actually find something I liked to try but finally I give you the Feel Good Box Their website promises the natural beauty and self care.  Well unlike many other boxes and subscription things this one offers the one off box. So I didn’t need to remember to cancel. And the communication was excellent. Pretty much as soon as I ordered my one off box, I was emailed if I wanted their new November box rather then old October one. And then I had issues with my delivery, somehow the house number was missing of the address but the package was resend again free of charge. A fabulous customer service.  And inside it was magical too  I am already using the reusable makeup pads, and these are excellent quality! There is body oil, bath soak, beauty balm that smells heavenly, body buff (I am unsure off), motivational notecard. All this come in Lille jute bad with hand written note on handmade paper. All the packaging is rec

Baby rave once again

I have heard of Big Fish Little Fish Events form Scummy Mummies podcast ages ago and we have been to one in Tramshed. Last time I found it a bit too much for the little guy, it was hot it was crowded and he just kept a in running from and to the toilets. Nightmare. So we haven’t been for couple of years.  But this time the event was in Depot. It is a much bigger venue and it was fabulous.  Egg was very happy to explore the area and look and touch things. Few times I have say no and get traffic lights out, but he was a very happy and well behaved self. And I could see him. And it wasn’t too loud. Unlike in tramshed.  There were 2 bars, massive craft and baby crawl areas. Pizza place and a lady with magnificent cupcakes and cakes. Some nice benches and chairs for folks to chill at. And there were photo booths and face paining. The photo booth with printed photo was a very affordable £2 and tons of props.  There was also Santa! One of our classmate met the big man

After the race

So what do you do after running or maybe swimming in the park for 10k? Well after I warmed up I got dressed and went to local Antique mall. Hey Cardiff would you call Jacobs Antiques a mall?  So anyway I went on adventure among all the pretty old things. (Husband hint hint)  Ignore the funny face... but if I see the hat, I must try the hat!  How cool is that RAF ladies hat?!  But you know I have a big head or big hair none of them fit me! But never mind! This one was just so pretty with a not to bad of price tag of £75 but I don’t need it or can actually afford this. I did however send this picture to my mother who couldn’t decide if she wanted something similar we saw in a charity shop for a quarter of the price... she is regretting not getting it by the way!  I don’t like teabags very much. I like loose tea and I have a modern version of one of these. But look how cute! Also have you seen that report on micro-plastics in posh teabags? Right! On that note Cardiff Market has an amazing

Run or a swim

I do love a race day. You wake up feeling excited put on your kit and see all the loonies fellow runners are eager to stand pinning their bibs and such.  All very well all very wonderful. But UK weather has other plans...  I just had to do the Mo running event since it was a 10th anniversary and I am pretty sure I did the very 1st Cardiff event 9 years ago. And it was always my fastest and the funnest race. Some costumes are totally out there!  I even done this race after the storm and a day before flying out to Russia with a small child.  But this year it was something else....  The rain was cold. The wind was cold. I run in my jacket! That never happened. And at some point I was ankle deep in a puddle...  Our son’s classmate had a little cry after completing her mini Mo race (1,5k) because her feet were wet and she was cold. I hear you little one I almost went home again. She was very happy once home, just so you know, she has a shiny medal and a fun headband to wear.  Race was a har

Festivities

Happy what ever holiday it is.  I want to say that I have reflected on life on the day of the dead but I was just tired and a bit sleepy all day long!  We did some Halloween things, like decorated the house, paint our face and carve pumpkins! I don’t know if you seen my post on Instagram. Have to say doing a pumpkin with a kitchen knife or with a tiny chisel thing from the kit (you know the ones) ... chisel thing is so much easier!    We didn’t go trick-or-treating since we live on the main busy street and well not many neighbours decorated their houses... and well some one didn’t want to wear his consume. Maybe next year! Some folks think it ok to start Christmas season.... well you do you but it is too early! Although one lady at work said she is doing her shopping today to avoid all the rush. Good luck to her! I am just happy the half term is over and it was a good one. Apart from 4am start time yesterday, thank you cat for running around like a mad loony and waking us up!  We did t

Half term

Social media is great. You can keep in touch with friends, get news, find funny or interesting thing and feel like a total shit that you didn’t take your kid to a pumpkin patch... it’s ok he went with school and really didn’t care much. Besides making memories is different for everyone. And besides half term is busy for us catering people. Who would get your plates to you? Don’t forget to tip your waiting staff! I’m usually very well adjusted and see past the pretty pictures and “real” people. But somehow I feel a bit strange this time around... (to be honest all the people I follow are generally nice and well adjusted without much staging and fakery)  And maybe I just want to be some where sunny...  You know we all are different have different abilities and things to keep us happy... so it’s ok not to do much.  We are busy at work with hubby. But little one will go for one day to his grandparents, we will carve a pumpkins and do stuff. But I have nothing planned. I

7.30am

Image
So today something strange has happened... I woke up before the child. This never happens. Kid wakes up early. Like stupid early!  Most of the time 6am is exciting 6.30 is a dream!  I also have this vague memory of when I used to sleep on my days off... and that with a child nothing will change! Hahaha!!!  So coz he wasn’t awake my mind went to dark places. What if something happened to him in a night. What is he chocked.... and why is the husband not worried... so it was a relief to hear his little cooing around 7.30 and then sound of feet running into our bedroom and his happy face looking at me and demanding kisses. He just held my head and moved his cheek to my lips and away about 10 times.  I mean why did I worry? What can happened? Is that what mum’s worry is like. And why didn’t husband worry? Am I overthinking stuff?  I guess my mother is the same and perhaps it is her fault. She texted husband because I didn’t reply to her calls, my phone didn’t register them. I got slightly a

I don’t think life is about balance. I mean it is my go to joke with customers about having wine and dessert. Yes I tell bad jokes, sue me! People love me.  Life well is just life. And it’s all diffident no size fits all...  So let’s play a game! Find this child  I am not good at den building. But I’m good as ensuing people, and fur babies, who depend on me are all covered. Husband can have pasta for dinner again and I will eat maybe some cheese, but kid will have what he likes, maybe sushi rice with grilled chicken and black olives, cat will have the food she likes and bunny will be let out once a day to hop around... (don’t worry husband I’m planning to make pork ragu on Tuesday)  I might look like a hot mess but I tend to have plan. I had a bit of a meh moments this week.  I went to work meeting in a diffident city, how exciting but it made me all stressed and feel a bit shit. Work haven’t been busy, just you know work. I haven’t been as active and I hoped and this rain brings me do

Plastic-less

Image
So there is no such thing as absolute zero waste, but as that meme-Inspo quote said “we don’t need 100 people doing zero waste perfectly we need 1000s people doing it imperfectly” so yeah I m with latter.  However after I came back from Russia I felt a bit in the “rut”about my waste and such. All the cereal bars we consume ....  But then I saw the ad in instagram about the reusable pods for my Nesspresso machine. I thought to my self, oh that’s great will save me money in pod and well all the packaging from the landfill or their recycling scheme, which is actually not clear where the pods go... and then I found my French press. Almost hit myself on the head with realisation that I don’t need that new shiny reusable pods, that would take space, money and who know what the packaging will be like! I still use my pods and things but I can tell you that I use less. And I didn’t have to spend more cash on the substitute for something I already had a substitute for. So not only reduce but als

Second hand September

I never wanted to be like everyone else... it also helps that I’m 5ft short and with loud voice and very not “Russian” looking. When folks ask me where I am from they get very surprised, I’m not tall blond and have distinctive accent...  My step dads mum got the nice denim jacket of my choice. It was cute thing with defined waist line and looked rather unusual. But when we got home everywhere I looked I saw this jacket. Everyone wore it so for me it became a plain usual thing and not special anymore... I was upset.  Essentially I had that Zara dress! (If you have this dress and love this dress that’s cool and good for you, there is great photo of Scummy Mummies in that dress) So I took scissors, some little lace, needles, beads and safety pins. Writing about this make me sad that I don’t have a picture of it.  It became a short jacket with ripped collar where the beautiful lace was pocking out. That but actually looked really really good.  I made a lot of alterations to my clothes. I m

Race day with husband

Image
I think I had few posts titled race day. Oh gosh I have done lots of these in sunny Welsh capital. Some were very good and others were a bit poo but as a rule I would come home happy, excited and with new bling for my medal hanger! It’s from Etsy of course! Cardiff 10k was the 1st “grown up” race I did. Before Cardiff 10k 2011 I was just running easy and relaxed race for life where all women claded in pink would walk, run, jog... well actually this is no more as my hubby did the inaugural race for life for everyone!  The excellent thing about Cardiff 10k is that it is super flat, usually very well organised... however were was one year when there was no water station. And it gets better and better!  Last time I did it in 2015 with husband who spend a lot of time on treadmill but not actually outside... and well he was slow and hated every minute of it.  When I took him for a run once I quickly realised that these long legs of his can be very fast and his stubbornness will lead to very

Subscription box review. Boxcitement

Image
If you are a friend and a reader you know that I love a subscription box. Like a lot! There have been good few I have already tired and wrote about and so here is a new one in series: Daria loves a subscription box. I don’t know if you seen the Boxcitement advert, basically it’s what it’s portmanteaus implies, a lovely gifts in a box via your postbox. Jewellery, stationary and suprises is what the website promises.  The Ausgust edition which I got is also donating money to marine conservation society. And after entering a code I will be getting a special mystery box.  So here it is! The packaging is cute and postbox friendly, so no trip to neighbors or post Office Depot!...  a little touch that what is in the box is actually hidden and there is a very cute illustration. Definitely pleasnet surprises and well thought about and executed!  However the content is a bit ... well alright I guess. I liked the note cards with different designs and differe

Events

Image
This year seems to be very full of events and shows we saw. I mean only that week when I got so tired in the end by watching 3 shows in the row !  Then we also been to see Pink. And she was well just what you expect her to be. Full on show! With flying dancers, moving props and she flew over the stadium!  We still have few things to see until the year ends but last week we went to Tramshed to see Ash.  It’s funny that my young work colleagues have no idea about band and the joy that “Girl from Mars “ is...  However I cannot call my self a big fan or a connoisseur of their music, I love songs that  I love and well others not so much and I don’t keep with updates and such. I’m one of these wierd people who’s music preferences are really random... from Led Zeppling Immigrant song to soundtrack from Snoopy film.... You know, it’s part of being a mum too!  I didn’t know all the songs, but the sounds is just going throw your whole body at the live event. The ener

And once more with ....

Feeling? Guilt? Promise...  I just saw that didn’t blog all summer holidays, or you there about.  Summer is about juggling, more juggling than usual.  It’s hard when your field of work is shift patterns and so is your partners. So when one of us at work another with Egg, and vice versa. Literary no alone time, I miss that. And Egg and I were in Russia for 3 weeks!  It was nice to see most of the family. It was nice not to stress about work, not that I stress much but still the pressure to perform is there. And it’s nice to cook for my mother, she eats everything and praises me every time.  So few things have happened.  My less waste journey been a bit stressful due sidelong haveing rashes and allergic reactions. So I’m back to use regular shampoos and deodorants. I have decided to cut down on drinking and inpove my overall fitness and health. And save money, there is an app for it. Did you know? I also want to sort this mess, the blog, out. And in the beginning of summer we have been g

Waste conscious

Image
I while back I posted about marking small changes to go zero waste, or be more conscious of my waste and use less plastic. Basically to be greener.  And it is more or less routine now so I forgot all about progress post...  But this weekend we were at the birthday party. When I contacted the mum about the present for a child, she said oh please smth little and if possible from charity shop, because they are trying to be “conscious of their waste”. When I read that I smiled and little me in my mind did a little dance and cheered!  And it was great all the regular paper plates and single use cups were reusable plastic ones, same as the ones I have at home. A gift to take home was a book to chose and a reused jam jar with cake mix How delightful right!  So all this loveliness made me think about the changes I have made in my own life and how is worked out so far.  Reusable make up pads are going strong. It’s now not even a novelty, however I have a bit of an issue with nail vanish... stil

Spin class

Image
I have always loved a good spin class. But it is difficult to come by, not the class itself but the good instructor.  I’m a member of pure gym, you know it’s opened all day long, not that I ever went at night but the thought is there, and well it’s cheap and has classes. I do variety of things but few weeks ago I attended 3 spin classes with 3 different instructors. And it was such a different experience every time.   Monday was the worst, weather it’s because I found it a bit demotivating that instructor wasn’t on the bike or the choice of music, no one needs a remix of Immigrant song by Led Zeppelin! Or maybe it was the way said instructor was giving instructions... lets just day I double check who is teaching what now. And avoid anything by this dude.  Wednesday it was the same lovely dude who did a class before. Two classes back to back with lovely softly speaking dude with fabulous chilling and melodic music damn right I got the burn on!  Wednesdays are my 2 classes in the afterno

Funny women

Image
I was very much looking forward to this week, this week I had shows to see.  Guilty feminist tickets were my birthday present last year! And hubby did good Look how close we were!  We sang, we “orgasmed” (you had to be there really) we also found out about local poet, and two amazing organisations for women. And we realised that Bristol feminists came out in force. And most of all we laughed so much! I think might have peed a little.  Also I am regretting not going to see Grace Petrie when she was playing a tiny venue in Cardiff. But I shall not make that mistake again!  Next day I went to see Scummy Mummies. These tickets I just had to get. I saw them last year with mother in law and it was very very good fun!  But this year I took a mummy friend from school. And we agreed that faces were hurting from laughting so much. I loved the new material! And that song if Cbbies were for adults ...  And extra bonus I discovered that Scummy mummies used my photo in thei

RHS Flower Show 2019

Image
As per tradition, flower show came to Cardiff and I made my way there.  However this time child was at school and mother in law on holidays, so I took the husband.  Here he is looking a bit annoyed at crowds of people with wheely boxes full of plants.  But we are so different at just mooching, he cannot just mooch! That’s is rather annoying!  But he did insist on doing lots of shopping for the garden and then we did dig the garden and plated out new plant babies inculing the dwarf (little sister variety) raspberry bush.  However not having the offspring with us I realised how actually not kid friendly the event is. If last few years they had bunnies and guinea pigs or little chicks to look at, even owls to stoke, this year it was the hungry caterpillar trail that was well ... a bit rubbish and a small trampoline.  As my momma friend said it they market these events and kids friendly but they really aren’t. Oh well maybe next year they will think of something more appropriate for famili
