Makers will make... but not very often

I used to love making stuff. When I was in school back in Russia we all made "friendship bracelets" all the girls had them. Sometimes up to an elbow. Mainly from beads but also once I have learnt my basic macrame knots I taught all the girls around me. Oh and you wear them till they broke. Yeah not very hygienic ... eek. My hobby was indulged by parents and relatives who were giving me books, taking me to haberdashery to stock up on beads. Mind you it wasn't as well developed as now, coming across clasps, earring hooks was impossible, but we recycled old granny's stuff and reuse everything. Thinking of it my mother might still have most of my beads and books in the flat. I also made clothes, mainly skirts, since they were easy, I customized existing outfits. There was a talk in school to ban me from wearing certain things but that never came to be. All this cam from wanting to be unlike everyone else. I still would hate if I see some one wearing same thing as I ...

Sunday Fun Day!

Hubby told me about this "food fair" at Chapter Art Centre . And being super busy as per usual I totally forgot about this... Imagine my surprise when I got the text "bunch of little stalls you would love it! Oh and can you bring an apron"... The event was called the Art Car Bootique to celebrate 100 years of WI. Amazing!! So off we went to the Chapter. We lived in Canton and Riverside for years, yet I never been to Chapter. Fail on my part I think, looks like an amazing place. There were soo many people about. Great atmosphere, people, puppies, prams and baby carriers everywhere. I so wish Edgar would still be small enough to be carried around. But we had a cuddle and wonder in the arms so he could look around properly.  And thing we saw! Lots of stalls and people! Handmade and unique things! People making art by cycling! Swan trailer... (sort of, not sure what to name this)! Lots of Vintage! We saw an awesome drum band! Our favourite E...

I have been busy

This week seems a bit never ending... I spent two days on the trains from and back to Birmingham. I went to Bath to tidy up the old flat... Walking from the house back to the train station I was think that this city is very beautiful and I was very miserable there. I walked passed the old work and I did not come in to say hello, I am a little be confused about this. I do miss you guys!  Then the next day I went to London to Russian Embassy to pick up my passport!! Woooo!! The journey it self was good, apart from the dude next to me who was chatting on the phone to some one for the whole time! Like an hr and a half!! Crazy! I was in a queue for my passport for one hour, this is not a great organisation I got to say... But I have it now  even if they did not spell my new married name correctly...  To celebrate and kill some time before my train back I went to Camden. Oh Camden, wish I was where earlier and had more time to look for treasures...

DIY ... well I was bored:)

I always enjoyed making things... No matter what, earrings, clothes (skits and bags mainly), I'd like to think that I have this craftiness from my gran and perhaps mom. But mother mainly knits and crochets, I'm more of sewing and other DIY kind of gal.  So after watching tons of DIY videos on YouTube, I finally managed to learn about jump rings and now I can use them properly.  The cute poison bottles went to Sarah and I made little gun earrings which I gave to Rhian. However these skulls things, look a bit to white... Need some more work to them. Speaking of giving gifts, I also made a hair band for Rhian, since she is so fond of them. It was super easy to do... Ribbon came as a free gift with my Cloth Magazine . By the way this is one very inspirational mag, love it!   So measure your head, and mark the ribbon length accordingly. I left approximately an inch on each side, so I would have some space to make litt...

Making Stuff...Old lippy to tinted lip balm

Image
I was tidying my makeup bag... the lovely yellow and black Luella make up bag by the way:) And I found some unused lipsticks... Sometime you think colour would be great on you, or some one gives you one, so I had quiet few of these. It is such a shame just to throw them away, waste! So I thought to make a colour I might actually like. It is very simple! I referred to Queen of Crafts book Great book by the way, very inspirational with a lot of useful information. Not like some of the crafts book that just look great, but have no use. I actually find my self referring to it every now and then, Jazz Domino Holly is one expert crafter and you of course can get this book on  Amazon So what I did: -few old (unused and unloved in my case) lippies -vaseline (we been gifted a massive tab some time ago) -heat proof bowl  -pan with hot/boiling water The heat from the water will warm up the bowl where I placed cuts off...

Vintage... My Love!

Image
I was always fascinated of the 50's dresses, 60's tiny skirt and flat shoes... I got married (fake wedding) in a vintage dress... Well and it was better quality then you can get on high street... and vintage is green! Don't care what you say but my snake skin clutch bag makes me think that I recycle that unknown snake fellow who had to die to become one... It's bad but hey, it's better then chuck it out, this bag has been used by me over and over again.... So I went to Cardiff Vintage Fair... There are only few vintage shops that I know of, it is almost impossible to get inexpensive vintage piece in Welsh Capital. Ebay is a life saver then... Fair was good but, lacking something... I don't know I just did not feel it there... But I did get these beauties for £7 only!! Sadly I have lost the broach last night coming back from the cinema...  So the next day after the fair I got up early and went to London... Walki...

When I went to see my friend Charl  to model for her  she gave me leaving present.  I didn't know I had one:)  I love it! Husband loves it! These guys are just too cute!  Thank babes x So she did say that it would have been super cool to have one of them in 3D.... Well... Here to please really... So Charlotte when are we meeting next so I can give you this dude?  But then again, if there is something being made another hand-made thing is coming too... Took me absolute forever to remember how to do this, but I think results it great! Must make some more... Would you buy them? I think I can take my Esty shopping into selling...

My hubby was out all day helping our friends Dickie and Karly moving house. I was stuck at home since I wasn't very well past few day... But  this blog  was super inspirational... So next thing I know I did this...  And then... I got the felt, made paper pattern and start hand stitching year and fox's face.... Dusted off my sewing machine and completed Mrs Fox! She us now living in Dicky and Karly's new place! I was actually sad to see her go. It was very quick.... finishing stitching the head and body together... skyping with mother. She said I should give Mrs Fox to her.... and then Dickie brought hubby back, fox was gifted and Dickie left.... Bye-bye Mrs Fox, you should look after Dickie and Karly now! This is just great! Please meet our naughty bunny Daisy and some of  mine pillow cases... It was fun to make them! Very tricky to get Daisy to stay still! The cushion she's leaning on made mother in law Yvonne very happy! Best presents are handmade!!
