Very Small Feet

It’s funny how launch of Disney + in UK was around the start of the lockdown. Marketing planning? Did they plant a virus... but all jokes aside we love it!  Unless the internet isn’t working which happens on occasion. But yeah, kid been watching lots is Pixar, I have tried to push Nat Geo animal documentaries but he wasn’t having it. Also we discovered all the short films! Oh my the Float made us both cry and hold little one tight. If husband started with Simpsons I feel into the hole is Star Wars! And there is so much of it and I never even see these before. Oh it keeps me busy when I don’t fancy watching a film or anything (like hubby playing his mine craft)  I guess I was always a fan of fantasy sci fiction fan. I just didn’t have the access to it. But I just enjoy it for what it is, fun escaping and great story telling. I don’t have an issue with new trilogy and with Jar Jar Bings even thought the prequels were well so long and boring.  (Here is my little light things...

If you are following me on twitter or Facebook you might know that last Sunday I took the child to see Moana. It is rate PG in UK so there are some scary moments but we have watched the songs in YouTube with bits from the film and little Egg didn't blink twice. But he loved the music.  Oh what a wonderful film it is. The child only lasted about 20mins. And there weren't many kids in the audience, which is strange for early showing on Sunday so I have to take his little wiggle bum out. It was very lucky I saw it before. This film is absolute beauty. Music, songs, colours and characters are wonderful! Oh and fun fact one of the composers and writers Lin-Manuel Miranda actually has Tony, Emmy, Pulitzer, Grammy and MacArthur Fellowship! What?! No wonder music and songs are so great! Even the BBC Women's hour said that they love Moana since she isn't a princess and has no love interest in the film.  I loved it because it tells a good story of love, courage, li...

So when I say girl power I don't want to talk about spice girls... But they were empowering and awesome! And some of them became power houses, look at Posh Spice...  Oh sorry kids who were born after 1999 this is Victoria Beckham.  Finally strong females are taking slowly the centre stage! About freaking time I say...  Firstly it is Katniss Everdeen. Admittedly in later films she became a big damaged girl but she's strong! And on my never ending list of things to read.  But how refreshing are shows like Agent Carter. She is not only a super woman but she understands that point in time she was very accepting of her less special role and that "I know what I'm worth" . Gosh just the fact that she knows she's a badass female and doesn't need any male approval....  Then I came across the Blindspot. Not so sure about that but Jane, Jaimie Alexandre cars yet, most definitely a strong female.  But one I really want to talk ab...

I am glad my baby is a boy. It is easier for boys. I mean, no one will pay him less, or look at his chest when talking to him.... It is all about double standards. Man can get mad but if woman will get mad, she is nuts, emotional or hormonal. Or many other unpleasant labels.  So even if we are in the 21st century there is still place for gender inequality and sexism in general.  But then again it might be unfair on boys now... the girlies are being empowered all the time. Boys not so much...  And then I see this... I saw the billboard and something in the back of my mind bothered me.. I didn't know what it was at first. But then it hit me... Like with Marvel merchandise: no female characters on the poster.  I have been outraged about the Marvel and Disney merch already. I guess they never learn. I was just surprised by Sky Movies....  I do understand Black Widow and Scarlet Witch aren't the leads but neither is Hulk... Or Thor...  And then...

Marvel is owned by Disney. In case you didn't know. So these awesome fun action films have big budgets and you know they will be a blockbuster! Well most of the time.  But what about that dad who took his little girl to get a Gamora action figure after they seen Guardians of the Galaxy to Disney store... And found none.  And now just out of the interest I went to have a look on what about the Age of Ulton... I loved Scarlet Witch and loved how they let more light in on Black Widow's past... I found this... And this .... The camp looking litre figurine is Mr Marvel.... What!?  It is like there were no female leads what's so ever! How is this possible!! I filed utterly discussed! Sure there are lots of princess outfits but what about girls who kick arse?!  I am very happy to see the development in the princess' characters they don't just clean sing and wait! They shoot for their own hand, run away and work hard to make their dreams...

We all knew that Maleficent will be good... it was long time in production and advertised to no end. And we all were aware that it is about the evil in Sleeping Beauty. Oh but was it? I really did not know what to expect... I though a dull Disney film. But I was wrong and very pleasantly surprised. The horrid evil act... Loss of wings... All men are evil said the film! and oh we believed that. But truly Angelina was a real star of this film. She was magnificent! I would really recommend it to everyone... Beautifully made, beautiful actors, dark and Gothic as we all know I'm a fan of that! Also I want these horns... and wings!!  Oh and loved how they have reinvented the true loves kiss, very much like frozen too the act of the pure heart the same way! Very cute and not traditional at all.

Cartoons!!!  Oh nothing makes me feel so good... But the good ones, not sponge bob. Please I have taste. Lately my favorite Disney's things are...  Tangled It is very cute and funny. As usual love wins and the big evil ends up dead! Princess and the Frog with Cajun flare and lots of jazz! Lately I have been watching a lot of Studio Ghibli cartoons. Working throw the hole lot of them. They are delightful... and so cute. Husband says they are not futuristic and kind of lame, I say he has no taste! How can you not love this cutie pie? I also watched Howl's moving castle not doubt with just subtitles. It is like a whole new film, but it is still very nice... Howl's transformation is more touching.  Cartoons make me happy. The other day I was feeling a bit down.. home alone... just me, Daisy and rats... was a bit lonely.... So anyway... I was a bit down... and then I saw a Mulan DVD. She makes me happy!! Have you not seen it?! Where have you been??  However hubby says that new Disney is poo and he won't watch anything made after Hercules ...  Haven't seen it but truly love cartoons so don't care what he has to say! Me and Owen went to the cinema twice in last two weeks...  We saw amazing Looper! I would highly recommend it, great... everything!  it was extra great since they did not over think the whole time travel thing... no diagrams!  And of course lovely Joseph and manly Bruce!
