RHS Flower Show 2019

Image
As per tradition, flower show came to Cardiff and I made my way there.  However this time child was at school and mother in law on holidays, so I took the husband.  Here he is looking a bit annoyed at crowds of people with wheely boxes full of plants.  But we are so different at just mooching, he cannot just mooch! That’s is rather annoying!  But he did insist on doing lots of shopping for the garden and then we did dig the garden and plated out new plant babies inculing the dwarf (little sister variety) raspberry bush.  However not having the offspring with us I realised how actually not kid friendly the event is. If last few years they had bunnies and guinea pigs or little chicks to look at, even owls to stoke, this year it was the hungry caterpillar trail that was well ... a bit rubbish and a small trampoline.  As my momma friend said it they market these events and kids friendly but they really aren’t. Oh well maybe next year they will think of somethin...

RHS Flower Show 2018

You know the summer is not far away when Royal Horticultural Society is in town. It was our 3rd time as well so all and all it was supposed to be a great day.  The grey sky soon cleared out and it was like a different day all together.  All the wonderful displays were perfectly on trend. You are aware that everyone is loving mossier plants now and begonias are very much in vogue! Especially spotted ones.  I think they went with less plastic theme too. All the nurseries and schools wheelbarrows were with that theme in mind and a lot of recycled flower arrangements and installations can be seen aroud the grounds.  The day in my home started silly early. Big guy refused to go back to sleep after about 4am. So he had a little nap so we could see things in peace.  Taking a spirited (grumpy and stubborn) child to flower show can be challenging but there was ice cream and lovely chips. We didn’t make it to kids area it was a bit disappointing actually..  But consi...

Wonders of social media

Image
I have been asked recently if I was on any social media. On which I laughted and said “who isn’t?!” ...  My good friend Jess ( here is her blog by the way) tagged my in post of Facebook I thought it might be a picture of a cute kitten. Let’s face it that’s the main reason social media exists. It was a friend of hers looking for some plants and seeds for her garden.  So last week we got some new friends who brought us these beauties  And left with cutting ready to plant of black carrant, some houseplants cuttings and gladioli bulbs.  This lovely exchange made feel very warm and fuzzy inside, our new friends seemed very lovely and Egg took to them, which doesn’t happened very often or straight away.  We also finally went out and got more compost. I’m planning to repurpose old meat crates for veg beds just need a dry day really. Yesterday we also planted this  I truly hope it will survive since Egg watered it so much. Boy loves a good w...
