2020 and Christmas excitement

Image
This year has been crazy ... well it’s still crazy and still very uncertain and corona filled (not the beer).  So the general consensus is do what brings you joy and make you happy.... and folks have Christmas trees and decoration out already! Hey I am all up for do what makes you happy.... but I am in two minds.  It’s November! Not even half way in November....  Maybe I am feeling superior because I cannot get to my decorations in the attic by my self?  I get the “influencer” folk need to create content... but some how it feels so early still! Oh and I am totally watching all the Festive DIYs on YouTube and what not. But I am not in the spirit yet. Maybe because I am pregnant and still nesting in anticipation... maybe because we don’t see friends and family and pressure is not on. Which is a nice feeling actually!  So yeah don’t feel pressured into a “prefect” festive look already. Also there is no such thing as perfect. Don’t forget (note to self too) things o...

Big week

Image
This has been a very big week for us.  Our little boy started going to school full day. And it’s been so stressful... for me. Everyone else seems to be just fine maybe a little tired!  After we dropped him off I had a little cry outside the school. Because I am emotional like that and Edgar just turned 4 last month.  Not that he isn’t ready for school. I feel very scared for him. He still not really taking...  He is talking a bit more, made great progress over summer. He also now ok with other kids, which is a super great development! But still needs support, speech therapy, and he makes real progress! He now has a one to one teaching assistant, and she is great! And if we started the week with us taking him right into the classroom now he is happy to walk himself!  So neither of us had a lay-in and lazy start to the day. This week has been full on. Work, school, meetings and appointments... and Egg even that school is super tiring he won’t sleep past 6am... But...

Things I have learnt this Christmas

Image
As you know I have been out in charge of Christmas dinner. And by default, husband was away, I had to sort out all the presents... and school engagements...  And I wished the Christmas would be here already some time around 15th December.  I found it all super stressful...  But as this blog post title suggests I learnt few things too.  Firstly I understand how stressful it is to cook the Christmas dinner/lunch. We agreed that next year we are doing it together.  Then it’s totally ok to ask for stuff that you want. But I did find it odd to do so and for the 1st time I bought stuff that hubby wanted and not to think about it my self. Made me feel very strange. But now I have the sleepers I wanted and tickets to see Scummy Mummies show.  It’s super fun to be just at home with just family. We didn’t have anyone over, just us. We did what we wanted and when we wanted.  And in the end of the day it is all about kids.  We played with new toys. At some po...

(Not) talking Wonder

Image
Edgar is almost 3!  I cannot believe this, it like it was just yesterday I was waddling around with a massive bump thinking of what to name my little egg... And he doesn't talk.... When Egg was about 18 months old he used to sing Twinkle Twinkle and so a little star with his hands. He used to call us mama and dada and call all small animals bunny. Well my mother's cats were bunnies.  And now he doesn't say much. Only bird language. Lots of different noises. Sometimes he would say a word or even two and then won't say them again...  I am pretty convinced that he is just stubborn. We know voice and words are there. He just can manipulate us to get his own way....  But then we also have all these medical professionals around us. We saw speech and language therapist (SLT), paediatrician and regular visits to our health visitor (HV)... I really didn't find SLT helpful she produced a terrible report based on her observations. Well if she was observing my child for 2 hours...

We are on the move again...

as you guessed it from the title we are moving again. Bigger place more suited for us and the bump when he is born. Proper warm home with more manageable garden.  But it is packing... and more packing. And taking furniture down... That is actually rather satisfying. I also look forward to the time when I will be on leave and repainting stuff, redecorating and such...  Like this chest I was painting before I went on holidays and hubby left my tin on pain in the garden and its got knocked over by wind and spilled all over the place...  These handles are so cute! Like Oh My God  I love these. I just need to get willow green wood paint again and finish these things, I have this chest to finish and another one. The bigger one will go to the bathroom I think. Maybe it will be different colour. Our new bathroom that I am really excited about, cool bath and sink and loo. With delightful rectangular white tiles.  Speaking of DIY and crafts, I am makin...
