Plastic-less

So there is no such thing as absolute zero waste, but as that meme-Inspo quote said “we don’t need 100 people doing zero waste perfectly we need 1000s people doing it imperfectly” so yeah I m with latter.  However after I came back from Russia I felt a bit in the “rut”about my waste and such. All the cereal bars we consume ....  But then I saw the ad in instagram about the reusable pods for my Nesspresso machine. I thought to my self, oh that’s great will save me money in pod and well all the packaging from the landfill or their recycling scheme, which is actually not clear where the pods go... and then I found my French press. Almost hit myself on the head with realisation that I don’t need that new shiny reusable pods, that would take space, money and who know what the packaging will be like! I still use my pods and things but I can tell you that I use less. And I didn’t have to spend more cash on the substitute for something I already had a substitute for. So not only reduc...

Waste conscious

I while back I posted about marking small changes to go zero waste, or be more conscious of my waste and use less plastic. Basically to be greener.  And it is more or less routine now so I forgot all about progress post...  But this weekend we were at the birthday party. When I contacted the mum about the present for a child, she said oh please smth little and if possible from charity shop, because they are trying to be “conscious of their waste”. When I read that I smiled and little me in my mind did a little dance and cheered!  And it was great all the regular paper plates and single use cups were reusable plastic ones, same as the ones I have at home. A gift to take home was a book to chose and a reused jam jar with cake mix How delightful right!  So all this loveliness made me think about the changes I have made in my own life and how is worked out so far.  Reusable make up pads are going strong. It’s now not even a novelty, however I have a bit of an issue ...

A little better...

A while back I bought these massive bottles of shampoo and conditioner. They were fair trade and organic and smelled delightfully of lavender.  Then I also had a lush shampoo bar.  But the big bottles run out and so did the shampoo bar, so I got new shampoo bar and then that run out I discovered that lush didn’t have my favourite New shampoo bar in store due to “problem with an ingredient” I got another one instead that did work as well for me. However before I picked up a solid shampoo I did look at regular shampoos and all I could it plastic plastic plastic, cruelty free but still plastic. However my lovely coworker Chloe did say that some shampoo bottles are made from beach plastics.... I don’t usually have much time to read the labels I just look for absence of palm oil! Few months ago I wrote about sustainability in fashion and how I feel we don’t really need this much stuff, but making swaps for plastic alternatives seems a very important subject too.  I’m not going...
