Wonderful Wonder Woman!

Image
I love a good superhero movie. Yes a lot of them are damn similar and but they do entertain and such. And this is point of cinema, provide escapism, entertainment and hopefully send a good message.  I am not much for DC universe, these films take them selves so damn seriously. Oh Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman (BVS:DOJ as no one calling it), I guess Sucide Squad was better of all them but still not without fault.... so to be perfectly honest I did not have much hope for Wonder Woman. But trailers look good, I didn't see much of them but it was... well there was something captivating about the teasers.    I was actually rather excited and would love to see WW on opening night but it didn't happen. Also I have listened to interview with Gal Gadot on Kermod and Mayo film podcast (whittertainment) and it made me happy. But then they read out some of the listeners review and the opinions were very split! From glorious  praise to calling it anti feminist. I am ...

British Films

Image
The easiest thing for me to do is to run away to the cinema. I love it. I have an unlimited card, I pay monthly fee and go to the cinema as much as I want. Even if it is too see the same film, yeah thinking about Rogue One. Gosh I loved that one so much! But somehow lately I have managed to see mainly, British films. And these films couldn't be more different.  First one I saw was Free Fire.   Oh my how different the story is... and it appears that everyone shoot like a storm trooper...badly. Basically a story about the shoot out and how things can escalate very quickly. This film is also very funny. Like super funny. Shame it wasn't in the cinema for too long.  Another film that was in the cinema just for a week is City Of Tiny Lights   This film is actually adoptation of Patrick Neate's novel with the same title. Sort of a detective story, and a book I think I would rather enjoy... but my reading is mainly consists of Julia Donaldson and other wonderful kiddie writ...

Enjoyment vs Constrictive Criticism

Image
I love cinema. Think I always did.  When I was teen or in my early 20s I was more of art house, subtitled, strange movies kind of a gal. I enjoyed these films but I do not think I understood or actually remember them much, I think I just liked what people around me liked. Or maybe I was just pretentious... however I would alway try to see the film in original language. It just makes sense, movies are dubbed in artistic kind of way. And a lot get be lost in translation.  For example last summer I went with my cousin to see Jurassic Wolrd back home in Russia. Film was in Russian. But I could spot a joke that was supposed to be there it sometimes they just didn't work in Russian.  French films I love for their wackiness and just pure joy, think Amelie or Taxi (not the remake please, the original ones with Samuel Naseri and Frederick Diefenthal).    But now I just watch films that bring me joy. Sing was definitely one of theses film. It is not Moana, but it has hear...

Cumberbacth in 4DX

Image
My dearest hubby came home one day last week and said... "go to the cinema or something" So I went to see Doctor Strange. I thought I was in for regular 3D but I was in for a surprise of a 4D showing... Totally forgot that the Cardiff Cineworld was getting it installed when we went on holiday.  Film was good, entertaining and introduced the characters and the special powers. I had few giggles and really felt for Dr Strange. If you like your Marvel films you will like this one. Oh and one of the Easter eggs are so funny with sexy Thor in it. It's like a major men-candy of Easter eggs. But I want to tell you about the 4DX thing... Would this be breaking code of conduct as set by Kermode and Mayo? Well I thought it was fun but I think I would avoid this experience, just object to pay for this, even with my unlimited card. Yes I am this tight with money.  The chairs were moving with the screen, the air pumping into the ears and the chair also mimics the fig...

Angelina love or Maleficient

Image
We all knew that Maleficent will be good... it was long time in production and advertised to no end. And we all were aware that it is about the evil in Sleeping Beauty. Oh but was it? I really did not know what to expect... I though a dull Disney film. But I was wrong and very pleasantly surprised. The horrid evil act... Loss of wings... All men are evil said the film! and oh we believed that. But truly Angelina was a real star of this film. She was magnificent! I would really recommend it to everyone... Beautifully made, beautiful actors, dark and Gothic as we all know I'm a fan of that! Also I want these horns... and wings!!  Oh and loved how they have reinvented the true loves kiss, very much like frozen too the act of the pure heart the same way! Very cute and not traditional at all.

making most of it

I do not work as much as I should only about 15-19 hours a week so it leaves me with a lot of time to my self. So what do it do with all this free time... I have learnt how to plant stuff and I spend a lot of time with pets. Daisy really loves it in the big house to run around but hates the slippery floors. It is very amusing to watch her slide across it. She sure loves the garden. She actually dug some holes there and did a roll once, she never rolled around before, don't think bunnies are designed that way. But mainly I go to the gym and cinema... Gym is a must with race being very tough one and very very soon this September I need to push myself a bit more. I am mainly doing classes actually, what is a new thing to me but it seems to be working really well for me! Cinema... Oh cinema!! I just came back actually from seeing The East and I saw Man Of Steel. Two very different films but equally amazing.  Man of Steel is a massive budget blockbuster .... with no...

Cinema Obsession

Image
We all have hobbies, good or bad, usual and not so much. Apart from many things I love doing I’m huge fan of cinema… If you have been reading this blog then you would know that I do go to cinema a lot. Having cineworld helped not to leave me broke, especially since I have been to see Hobbit 4 times! But now in the new place, I was terribly disappointed to find out that the nearest Cinewolrd is in Bristol. Odeon is my new home… Now we have a budget for me to indulge in my love for cinema. Yay! Love my considerate hubby… There are so many films I really look forward to see…  Beautiful Creatures (either would love or hate it, but willing to give it a chance), 7th Son (Ben Barns!Yay!), movie 43.....  and my list goes on and on! Also I must be not alone in my cinema love; it’s a multi-million industry, dagh! So my friend Owen and me have decided to blog together about films. We live here . Enjoy! Hope the life would be soon as it w...
