Red January

Image
I have officially survived the most gloomiest month of the year....  Active January was interesting... Are you on Strava? Husband finished last month on whooping 250km combined running and cycling I just did 41km running and 46km cycling. But still if I didn’t participate in Red January I would be still trying to lace up my trainers and going for a run...  Red January helped me busy my self and being more productive. Not all the time but I was active. And I truly hope remain as active throughout the year.  And we even went on the run with The Running Chanel peeps around the NEC in Birmingham at the National running show. But later about that!     And finally the selfie game is better and my face isn’t size of the moon! Even if my face is rather moon like, at least at this angle I don’t look like I just have face... but also it was nice to go for runs together. And talk about our achievements. I am a member of a running club but I haven’t been in ages and re...

Bad weather running

I am a proud member of a running club.  But I go so often that some folks there think I am new every time I turn up. It’s fair!  But I have made a return about two months ago and did so fairly regularly.  I love it. Such a bunch is supportive people and so knowledgeable about training, running, races and injuries. Find likeminded people and life is amazing! But I have a problem. Not only irregular work hours but also my terrible laziness and well unwillingness to go out and be active when it’s dark and wet, cold and windy.  But since I have a strange injury of the knee, and it was half term when I didn’t get to train much, I told myself go do it or you will fail at your next race.  My next race is today, 10th November.  I want to do it 2 minutes faster then last one!  I went to the gym regularly, always did hard rolling hills setting on treadmill and rather fast speed for me.... Wish me luck today!  Weather looks like deep of British winter, wet g...

Roller Derby Wannabe

Image
I have this awesome friend, who I don’t see very often but I know she is always there for me. But on the rare occasions we do meet. And we talk, we eat, we drink we have fun.  We used to see each other pretty much every day and if not at work then in the gym...  this time I actually managed to get Egg man to his grandparents for the whole weekend. So no early wake up with a wine head. It should have been epic and it was coz few days before the X day I got the text asking if I wanted to go roller skating before dinner.  Damn right I did. The to Drew Barrymore and Shauna Cross I was all roller derby since 2009 when Whip it! film came out. I even got the skates that year for Christmas. But I think I only used them once.  Oh it was so fun. Slightly worried about all the kiddies around but fun and different activity.  Physical fun followed by some awesome Italian food at an independent Italian place...    And bottle of Vediccio and 2 Aperol cocktails... thi...

Review... In a way...

I consider my self a gym bunny. When we lived in Birmingham if I was not at work I was in the gym or cinema next door. Oh that was wonderful. Bad day at work? Gym time, angry speed running to loud music until I wasn't thinking angry thoughts.... Or gym and then a film as a reward.  It was nice. My body was in a good shape. When we had a hard week at work I think was at my thinnest and fittest... But with a big man in our life's life became more fun and I do not have time for my self. There is always something else to do. So I have tried going back to the gym. That didn't work.  I do see all these super fit mamas on intagram and I am jealous of their awesome achievements on body front and that they have time to them selves. Amazing work ladies! Actually one of them said that babies will grow and leave but your body will stay with you... got me thinking! You might want to suggest that I work out when big man is asleep. Well he was up about 3 times a night and wor...

Best end of holidays ever (or Survival of the Fittest Cardiff)

Remember last year I went to see my friend Nora to climb the wall? Well I was so inspired by these awesome people  that I have singed up myself. The event was the next day after our holidays.... Now I can say it was the best end of holidays ever, but a day before I was terrified. ... It was so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also had a most amazing team of people supporting me and being my paparazzi. Once again big big thank you goes to Owen, Sarah and Mel.  But my dear hubby had to go home since he was working that day. Sad face. But I believe guys kept him updated. The race was divided into waves and I was in sensible wave 5 which started at 11am.... I did not think how high everything will be and how very short I actually am. That was until I say these stacks of hay. Oh dear me, it was hard, but I managed without a boost or anything. We climb over, jumped over and climbed under, slid on our bellies and went into the river... I fel...

After my horrible cold I started feeling like I have been putting fat on... Perhaps comfort eating has something to do with it. My love for garlic bread must die, or we should meet each other less frequently... So I have decided to pay more attention to my body, eat less bad foods, more fruit and veg and drink a bit less wine! As much as I love my fermented grape juice, or fermented apple juice (cider) and a lovely juniper infused spirit... ... Sad! My friend Sarah singed up for Race for Life this year, with my encouragement... but in the end I cannot actually participate in that one (soon to be reviled why). So yeah she never really run before, so we went for a run... Here is Sarah's page to sponsor! https://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/sarahsmith1984 It was so much fun. I truly believe that this girl can go for miles! So in last three days she probably run 10K give or take... that puts me to shame. I overdid it a bit in the gym and was...
