Managed to watch bunch of films...

Image
I have been catching up on some movie time. So when I would go out to cinema I would try to watch couple of films. And different films.  So lately I saw: Victoria and Abdul  I liked it. Interesting story based on real events. Dame Judy is truly a national treasure!  Wind River.  Again a good story, well told. Like the end screenshot I didn’t realised that there is no statistics for missing Native American women... truly heart breaking. However the main hero is a straight white man seems a bit problematic in this story. But good film. However since it seems so real I do not want to see it again.  Home Again.  I enjoyed it. It was lighthearted rom com. Some people don’t see the end to the story but it is similar to under the Tuscan Sun it’s an emotional denial journey. But of course it is not Under the Tuscan Sun.  Flatliners.  I really don’t know how I feel about this film. It was a bit meh... Diego Luna with no shirt on that I enjoyed. The rest of...

Cinema gower me

Image
In few weeks I caught up with some of the biggest films this summer.  The BFG Ghostbusters  Star Track Beyond Suicide Squad (twice) I never read any Dahl. I am Russian we didn't read this growing up. I have no fuzzy feelings for the book and didn't know what it was about. But it was lovely. Funny moments funny, sad moments sad.  You know just what you want it to be. Special effects were truly something else, the giant land was awesome!  In the screen was a big groups of young ladies and relatives... So they needed the loo break and run right to the screen for the exit and then they climbed the sits to get to the exit. It was really funny and I truly didn't mind the code of conduct being broken with little cuties like little monkeys. Think a lot of people in audience thought the same, since we all giggles at them.  Then I saw the reboot of Ghostbasters. Coz I love in a happy bubble I haven't hear about any of misogynistic tro...

Getting the use of my unlimited card...

It is hard to find time to do anything, cinema is one of my favourite thing to do. But now I actually have a new cinema buddy, in a way... my mother in law! We went to see Dad's army a while back and this Monday we went to see Eddie the Eagle. Dad's army was good, but Eddie the Eagle was better.  It was very uplifting, and that the victory isn't everything. Coming from Russia, it is relatively new notion to me! Basically it was great I really enjoyed it. Even with all the dirty jokes... that my mother in law took it on board and have been repeating the joke to me for two days! I left the cinema feeling rather happy! I also been to see Kung Fu Panda 3 and truly enjoyed it.  Almost cried like a big cry baby that I am. Actually that was also the day the boys stayed up at with my in laws. Now that was strange. I haven't been by my self, truly by my self, in well over 2 years (I wasn't alone, when I was pregnant either). it was rather sweet and with...

Fun Sexy Spy Movie

Image
When you hear that Guy Ritchie makes a new film... You get excited. Well I got excited. Then I saw the trailer.... It was like old style Bond had a facelift and so much fun!  I sort of forgot about the RDJ Sherlock Holmes, so in my mind I only had his fun crime and gangster films.  Speaking of which, are you watching The Bake off? Or better yet the Jo Brand's Extra Slice? Well actor from Lock Stock is a big fan and was on the show. So fun! Honestly give it a try! But back to the film. I have been informed that the original show was a good fun, and has been enjoyed by many. Well being Russian and that it hasn't been daubed, so I have no idea!! However I sure enjoyed the film Great plot! Fun plot... Not necessary believable in some places (I mean it should have been more complicated to get some one out of East Berlin), but that makes a fun spy film.  Go see it. I do not want to give any spoilers... But it was fun, with a traditional Guy Rit...

cinema how I love you

Image
Been to the cinema couple of times, saw very different films. Loved both of them.... A Little Chaos.  Alan Rickman directing and acting, he is Louis XIV busy being Roi Soiel and moving everyone to Versaille. Kate Winslet is a landscape designer helping out on that project while under the genius of Le Notre played by Matthias Schoenaerts. This film is just sooo good and you really feel for all the characters. Do watch it. It is magical and will make you smile. Oh and Stanley Tucci is divine in it. And then of course hubby insisted we go see Avengers Age of Ultron as soon as we can possibly can.  So Edgar was left with his Grampy while we scooted off to cinema to watch Avengers in all its 3D glory! Oh and Joss did not disappoint. Action was marvellous, loved the background into characters and introduction of the new ones. And it even had some funny moments!  "you all are not worthy!"  So yeah, two very different films. Costume drama ...

Cinema I love you!

Image
As you are probably already aware I am a big fan of my local Cineworld, especially that I am also an owner of their great unlimited card. After having a baby it became a bit tricky finding time and such. I do have an amazing hubby who was looking after Edgar and I got to go to the cinema twice last week. I went to see Lucy and Dracula Untold. I missed the cinema, but I will have to only watch films that I really want to watch. However I am not sure what was my motivation to see Lucy. But I do not regret that one, it was short and sweet. Ms Johansson is very cool and messed up. Luc Besson can make a strange film and I love him for this. Now with Dracula Untold I knew why I was going to see that. Mancandy! Oh I love me a sexy Welshman, hell I married one. It was...well it was ok. Interesting take on Vlad the Impaler as a caring father and husband. But really as a plot it was a bit not grabbing and bit boring, but visually it was good.  So having a baby m...

Films for girls

Image
Recently I have not been very well. Had this horrible cold and 5 days in still not quiet there yet, but I am better, not great but better. For 3 days I was nesting on the sofa watching films. A lot of them.... but one thing made me super happy was the Pitch Perfect. It is my new favorite film....  It's about girls being friends getting their shit together and stepping up and knowing when to chill da f&%k down.... And then I watched For Good Time, Call... And oh my manolos I found new sex and the city... And it is outrages! Funny! Sexy! Unexpected... Well I am in love!  Watch it! Unless you are easily offended by sex talk, dildos etc. I don't get easily offended...  This film made me think about my old friends who I used to spend most of my time with in Switzerland.  We used to go out together and then meet for coffee next morning to discuss the events of the night before...  I miss this time so...

Fun films, I recently watched Pitch Perfect It made me really happy. For more details about this fun filled film you can see on my joint blog with Owen  My Favorite Film .  Straight after I watched Easy A and House Bunny  with lovely Emma Stone and Anna Faris... I just couldn't stop smiling. But then I felt down again... So I baked and cooked And watch Sailor Moon... Oh how these girls make me happy! But it has to be subbed not dubbed.  These are the things that make me relax and happy again.

Cinema Obsession

Image
We all have hobbies, good or bad, usual and not so much. Apart from many things I love doing I’m huge fan of cinema… If you have been reading this blog then you would know that I do go to cinema a lot. Having cineworld helped not to leave me broke, especially since I have been to see Hobbit 4 times! But now in the new place, I was terribly disappointed to find out that the nearest Cinewolrd is in Bristol. Odeon is my new home… Now we have a budget for me to indulge in my love for cinema. Yay! Love my considerate hubby… There are so many films I really look forward to see…  Beautiful Creatures (either would love or hate it, but willing to give it a chance), 7th Son (Ben Barns!Yay!), movie 43.....  and my list goes on and on! Also I must be not alone in my cinema love; it’s a multi-million industry, dagh! So my friend Owen and me have decided to blog together about films. We live here . Enjoy! Hope the life would be soon as it w...

Some of these dwarfs are too hot to be dwarfs! Hobbit

Image
This is what I said to Owen after watching The Hobbit... We both were very excited about this film coming out... How can you not be when from every single magazine cover there is Martin Freeman just staring at you with his hobbit ears?! and he was from Office.... and now he is internationally recognizable! I actually never been to the cinema on the opening  night...  Opening night at Cineworld was a bit different where was a dude who gave a speech and even sang the song. He seemed very excited about the whole thing:)  I haven't actually read The Hobbit an unexpected journey... I did start reading it once, but some how it just didn't go. And surly I did not read the lord of the rings... Too much walking around really! But I do appreciate it... amazing fantasy work, the whole language was invented... And Peter Jackson did an amazing work....  Also according to this film the dwarfs are either Irish or Scot...

things I love at this moment...

Image
I know some might think its all hippy shit... well I know husband will. But I'm a real Sagittarius!.... I'm ever changing... also it's hard to be a December baby... FIY my cake day is this Sunday (16th December).. At the moment I love Bush in my headphones.... I think I really started to enjoy bush since seeing them live in Mancherster  in Academy.. when I was blown away... Ripped over sized clothes with Dr. Martins on my very small feet... (only certain models fit and I don't fall out of them) Dark and sad films.... Dark like Flat-liners and sad like Painted Veil... I think I just need an occasion  to cry... it releasing the tension! One must have a reason to cry..like a sad film.... otherwise it' not fun! .... and I'm hoping to have a fantastic birthday celebrations... nothing fancy, just food, drinks, board games and people that matter!  and Moonrise Kingdom DVD :) hint people!!

Cinema.. Again!

Image
The other day I was feeling a bit down.. home alone... just me, Daisy and rats... was a bit lonely.... So anyway... I was a bit down... and then I saw a Mulan DVD. She makes me happy!! Have you not seen it?! Where have you been??  However hubby says that new Disney is poo and he won't watch anything made after Hercules ...  Haven't seen it but truly love cartoons so don't care what he has to say! Me and Owen went to the cinema twice in last two weeks...  We saw amazing Looper! I would highly recommend it, great... everything!  it was extra great since they did not over think the whole time travel thing... no diagrams!  And of course lovely Joseph and manly Bruce! Man candy!! Today we went to see Frankenweenie... Tim Burton at his best...  Very funny and so not for kids.. Well they would like it but its funnier for older people and who are familiar with Burton's work...  We had a...

Well I Went To The Cinema

Image
Four times this week actually. Well one must entertain one self on week off while not being able to leave the passport. I saw Paranorman... very Halloween-y! And quiet dark actually... Highly enjoyable! And if you love cartoons as much as I do I would highly recommend it! In this spirit I also look forward to Frankenweeny and Hotel Transylvania!  I also met us with Dessy to see Anna Karenina...  Gosh I'm not a fan of Tolstoi as it is... To be honest the film was beautifully done, very original. But they way they perverted Russian language... And Keira Knightley is divine!  She is a wonderful actress! I must say that, she was amazing in Dangerous Method. But this film bored  me to no end. I guess it's because I'm Russian and really was really bored by Russian classics all my teen years:)   After the film we went for vino and chat! It was so much more fun then the film.... And then Viera came too.....

Oh... Plans I've Made

Image
Remember how after my last race I was going to do lots of things, make stuff, tidy the flay and watch films... My plans were so exciting!  Well another epic fail!  Somehow that days just went away from me.  Me and my friend Owen went to the cinema and beer after.... We saw Lawless... Well he saw it again and me for the 1st time. Before you watch the trailer got to tell you its a bit... well graphic! It is a very very good film... But I don't think I will be watching it again. Too real! I like to think that the world is full of rainbows and unicorns! This was too real... It's like film with Casey Affleck (coincidently my favourite Affleck brother) Killer inside me. It is a very very good film but too graphic and too real.  Both of the films a must see... but just be prepared...  So after this I did not do much...  I was going to make a make-up bag for Dessy so she can stop walking around wit...

Girls Day Out....

Image
Catering and hospitality is a different world. We all drink, eat junk, socialise with others on weekdays or Sunday nights... If your friends don't work in catering chances are you don't really see them. Most of my friends are people I worked with at some point in life. We do not work together any more so it is hard to get to spend time together. But we manage to meet up at least once a month with some of them.  This time it was just me and Dessy. Oh we went shopping and didn't buy anything, that passive shoppaholic thing... Then we went for food to this new Cuban place... Very mexican food. Home made salsas, tortillas! It was nice. The pineapple and chilly salsa is to die for! Then we always should have wine...  We ended the evening with trip to cinema. I finally got to see Magic Mike... You know the one about male strippers...  And it was as I expected... plot was a bit.. well not very good. Some questionable...

Oh cinema...

Image
Nothing beats watching the film on the big screen of the cinema... As you know I have this special card that allows me to see as many films as I want!  Well me and hubby saw The Amazing Spiderman... Oh I thought it was very good, entertaining and so much better then the other spiderman film. Emma Stone was lovely also Andrew Garfield is funny, he seemed very good hero type one can sympathise with. Haven't seen it? Watch it. It is entertaining. Husband didn't like it! And then we went to see Ted... Oh Seth MacFarlane... All I could see is cross between American Dad and Family Guy. But it was very funny! Mila Kunis is lovely!!  So in the end I have treated my self to the men candy ... the genius of Chris Nolan. Dark Knight Rises...  I do like my men candy... Lots and lots of it! Joseph Gordon-Lewitt, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy and Sir Michael Caine.  Also fantastic Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotilliard! ...

I heart cinema

Image
I m a very busy bee... I would like to be more busy but I will have to be more organised. I hope I will get there... sooner rather then later. But I always find time to visit my local   cinema , well I have that unlimited card. So lately I have seen.... Fast girls... every girl runner must! I felt so incredibly inspired, I just wanted to get my trainers on and go for a run! Its a bit predictable but very very lovely film. Prometheus... I haven't seen Alien and not a big fan of scary space things... but why not just give it a go. I did not regret it. Leading actress Noomi Rapace really kicks @ss.. And I stick to her as Lisbeth Salander not the american version of the film! And then my hubby made me watch this..... And this was .... well ... strange I guess. Very nineties... people who were around will know what I mean... Like early nineties... Try see if you like it... but it can be some what disturbing.... Today I have been sent home from work sin...

goon and the lady

Image
I enjoy films and going to the cinema as often as I can. That is why about a year and a half ago I got my self cineworld unlimited card and I never looked back! (information about this card can be found  here ) Lately I went to see The Lady with the girls... No dry eyes here! Such an inspiring story! I do hope that things in Burma will improve With hubby we went to see something silly and very funny. But yet, Goon was very inspiring at the same time. It tell you that there is space in the world for everyone ... even for a "nice guy. dumb as a puck"
