Sewing bee bug...

Is bee even a bug? Oh no I already in the rumble...

When tv was showing great pottery throw down I was happily attending pottery classes in my local indi coffee shop, last session had to be postponed due to the obvious reasons... and well then summer was mark by amazing season of sewing bee.

Oh I love me some Great British Sewing Bee!
So I thought well I have time... so I dusted off my sewing machine and well started.

Made some sleeping masks. Actually I had to redo them since they turned out too chunky... then I made a pinafore from the old bed sheet. Like a test run. I haven’t been making stuff from the actual pattern in well over 15 years (well not since I was a teenager).
I got the bug. I am planning a Christmas themed quilt. I never made a quilt but I found a nice and simple tutorial on YouTube. I also signed up for some fab makers, sewers channels there. And now trying to learn how to sew with stretch fabrics. Plan is to turn some old hubby’s tees into son’s summer vests.
I also procured bunch of magazines on the subject, they are cheaper then books and come with patterns.

However I do wonder which one of them is actual UK n1 sewing magazine!
I also got the amazing Fibre Mood magazine. It’s different to the UK sewing, there is UK ones will have articles, adverts, interesting profiles, this was was just amazing photos of the models, couple of macrame makes and just oh so stylish. It’s a bit more expensive and it took a while to arrive. They make Dutch, French, German and Spanish versions, very EU.

I want to make everything from this magazine. I m not sure that I have skills for it but I am willing to give this a go for sure! They also do sew along on Instagram and they have website with step by step instructions, oh yeah I love it.
And in fact I made kids shorts from it. I made them form old jeans, and an old shirt. Jeans there beyond repair but shirt just has so much material on it to use so it seems natural to reuse what I have. Even the elastic for the waistband came from old skit I was going to recycle, it was not wearable anymore.

It was a leaning curve really. But that’s a story for another day. All was relatively easy, maybe not too stitching and most definitely not the waistband. That took me so long to attach, I unpicked twice and finally have it on but it’s not perfect. But as I said that’s for another  day. (Pattern called Adam if you are interested)
I think lockdown was cooking and baking for some for us it was all things DIY. Have you seen the planter hanger I made?

Also I made few wreathes for the front door reusing weeds from the garden

And I have painted the chair and now it is used as my bedside table!

It’s a do it yourself galore here. There is also plan to paint kitchen cupboards and strip the paint of the a lot of door frames... but this is for later.
