Fashion. Making better choices

I have this pair of sandals. They are very comfortable don’t hurt my feet, they didn’t coast a great deal.  They are by Scholl and I got them inexpensively from my local tkmaxx about 4 years ago.
I am a mum to a very energetic child who has all my spare time. I walk places and it’s fair to say that these sandals are worn and worn time and time again. In summer I have the tan lines as is I still have them on.

See what I mean?

This year I am trying not to buys anything new. As much as I can but then again with a growing child...

So my shoes busted on the soles...

But luckily I know a guy. I mean there are Timpson dudes are outside and inside every supermarket but they are a big company and I like my small independent cobblers who you will really build  the relationship with. Well for £14 and a next day my sandals were even better than new I am ready for more adventures.

There is so much information around the fast fashion, the sustainability and such around, like good on you app. Coincidentally they said that scholl is not good enough but these shoes are old and well I repair and care for them and same way I am caring for my feet.
I am trying not to buy fast fashion but you know it is hard to make right choices. It’s more expensive to get stuff from ethical shops/sellers, but I do avoid certain brands like a plague. For example have you seen that Boohoo thing where they don’t pay they UK based staff national minimum wage but the owners got paid millions?! Same goes for the retailers who refused to pay for their over seas orders due to pandemic. It’s truly shameful!

For me it is all about making choices. To be honest I was never a person to buy an outfit just for one event, well my wedding was an exception, but my wedding dress was vintage and another (for an actual wedding) was in my wardrobe for ages...

Here is my fab vintage number... yellow with lace and sparkles and big lopsided bow on the back sourced on EBay from States and adjusted to fit by my old co-workers who is a wizz with sewing machine for a box of chocolates which she was refusing to take. I did offer money 1st.
So what I m saying is make good choices. Second hand most definitely not second best. It’s more sustainable and usually cheaper. So not only good for planet and environment but also for ones pocket.
