Film vs tv shows

Image
Every year I get a new diary/calendar and at the back I like to write down films/shows/books I watched and read or audiobook.  And last year I noticed that I watched a lot more shows rather than films. Back in the day when I had a memberships  card to the Cineworld I watch a lot and very different films… now films feel like an effort. And if the end what if you don’t like it? And you have wasted a perfectly good evening. And with series you can (well most of us) dip in and out as we please and even abandon them all together. I only finished true blood recently same with lost girl, they weren’t available on streaming services I had and I lost interest for a bit too… but I gave up on game of thrones and Big Bang theory all together.  Well not only that but tv shows quality is so good! Take Witcher for example? Great. I vaguely remember polish version form 80-90s it was not that this good! Or wheel of time which I have started but don’t feel the urge to continue watching…. B...

Life

Well poop on the stick!  This didn’t work out as well I hoped. I guess since blogging for me it’s just … I don’t know what anymore I don’t do it as often and as regular.  And well life, kids and trying to maintain some kind of normality. Basically I have no excuse rather than a lack of motivation. But in this few weeks I …  -Drunk gin with girls and they made me watch Fleabag. All of it in one sitting. I felt very uncomfortable, but it definitely has incredibly funny moments. Over all I did enjoy it but I will not watch it again.  -I have been to Bristol for an afternoon tea hen do. And realised I haven’t been talking much with the future bride. We are chatting more often now and I did message other friends who are in the same county but we have seen each other or spoke in ages!  Never really been to Bristol properly. Might escape again soonish!  - I finally went to the cinema. I haven’t been to cinema since I went on my birthday in 2019 to see knives out. ...

Daria and the stitches… fail!

Oh I feel so poo…  I had this grand plan on making my own clothes from vintage and second hand fabrics….  Well anyway back in August I cut out the pattern from simply sewing magazine of Aisling Blouse by Jennifer Lauren. But it just sat there. Well we didn’t have house back together and well with all the building work it’s surprising  it’s going as well as it is!  But I digress…. So I have started just to realise that I didn’t cut the second piece of the collar and didn’t do interfacing.  And as I was fusing the fabric I realised that I seems the make the seem allowance… free patterns in magazines are great but they have so little details and for inexperienced sewers like me it’s proving to be a bit difficult!  Anywho I struggled with collar and facings but I did fix and redid it again! Collar looks sharp but the top itself is way too small. And I have no idea what happened.  Or maybe it’s because I had to adjust the darts on the fabric…but then how el...

Encanto. Review

Have you seen Moana? Wasn’t it joyous. And all the songs!  So when it was announced that Lin Manuel Miranda is doing another cartoon for Disney I was super excited.  It is great watch it but don’t read further as I might SPOIL it for you …  196 So it’s a story about family with magical gifts that serve their community. I really felt all the Mirabel was feeling as in never being good enough for her abuela. Hit me right in the feels but then we were shown the story of abuela Alma…. And then I thought of people feeling Afghanistan last year …. And tears and tears run down my face…. And that abuala was actually recovering from trauma….  However like that picture of little Afghan girl skipping in airport in Belgium, this film is happy.   Gift is not magic gifts but gifts are family, people who you love. It’s just wonderful!  Music and animation just so good.  I saw some one else doing a review said that it was like “you be you” that’s also true. It’s about ...

Calendars reviews. Hemline and Hot wheels

Image
As I say in previous post I have things to review…. And in spirit of holidays I think I should talk about advent calendars we got this year for the big boy and myself.  I got the hemline one, I got it I think like half price from Amazon.  It was but some stuff was a bit …. Meh I guess will be a good way of describing it. I don’t think I will use 2 needles threaders…. That are exactly the same but one is black and another is white. Overall it was pleasant opening each day and some things are super useful in my crafting and I definitely saved money of getting the tools but if I would pay full price and for two kinds of pins and non of them these these pretty ones with flat flower heads I would have been disappointed.  The big boy had a fun cars advent. But he doesn’t get a concept of advent and opening something each day… and we have had an advent accident.  This one was pretty good. Cars, bits for cars, festive things like snowman, reindeer and so on. And it was plast...

Ha! It’s been a while

So yeah once again it’s been a while…  Christmas happened. Holidays. New variant of covid too…  Dealing with life, loss (we miss you very much and every day) holidays, work stress and making sure it’s all ready…  So it’s been a while.  I have some things to review. And more thing I want to talk about….  So hopefully this will get more regular. I enjoy how visual Instagram is but let’s be honest not many people read the caption and I don’t want to that person … like I don’t really how many regular readers I have, maybe it’s a force of habit or maybe I m deluding myself however my writing improved over the years…. So yeah stay tuned for more of my improved writing!  Oh and I have short hair now!

Breastfeeding journey. Mum life post

Image
I am insanely sleep deprived! And yeah no one said babies will be fun, and I guess I blocked it out from the 1st boy! Anyway…  I always thought yeah I will breastfeed my kids. Turns out it’s complicated and hard work. And figuring out what to wear… and how not to flash everyone in the vicinity and many many more things!  It didn’t really happen 1st time around, we had really bad delivery and no after care. Boo Birmingham!  But I was very keen to do this with baby G. I made this known to my midwife… and somehow I was introduced to a breastfeeding guru in hospital. She helped me how to hold the baby and such. Even took a pic how to baby should be in the boob. It was rather odd but extremely helpful.  I did write about the planned sections already and how it was a great experience! And after care was great too!  Grayson lost a bit of birth weight, which is normal but they (midwives and dr) tend to get concerned. My milk wasn’t coming in. Then we met Gayle the breas...
